Facebook WP Group

On their own, Wolf Procedure patients have organized and created a private Facebook Group called "The Wolf Procedure - Live AFib Free", which today has over 2,000 members!. Created as a forum for questions and comments, and a place to share for those who have had the Wolf Procedure surgery as their treatment for atrial fibrillation. It is also a group to discuss AFib, preparing for the surgery, the actual surgery, postperative care, and long term follow-up issues. It is also a support group to those who have long standing complications related to AFib.

Our objective is to post here copies of the latest opinions in the group as well as thank those who are active in this group. Patients who suffer from AFib sometimes feel alone, no one seems to listen, and the options that they receive are limited. This Facebook group is another resource.

We update this page frequently. If you are interested, go to the "Wolf Procedure - Live AFib Free" Facebook group and join.

September 30, 2024, at age 81, I received the Wolf procedure at Houston Methodist Hospital. I consider this my “re-birthday”. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Wolf and his outstanding staff. I have been restored to a life worth living with great joy. I have been able to successfully return to my sport of ballroom dancing. I now can dance for two straight hours and not be exhausted.

Prior to The Wolf Procedure I was lucky if I could dance for two minutes before needing to catch my breath. Because my AFib is cured, I have been able to successfully complete eye muscle surgery and total shoulder reverse arthroplasty. Without Dr. Wolf’s skill and dedication to his work I could not have done any of these things. I get very emotional when I try to explain to others how life changing this surgery is. I was very fortunate going into the surgery with a low BMI and no known comorbidities. I had one cardioversion which lasted 60 hours and showed me what life could be without AFib.

That experience spurred me to learn more about AFib and to research solutions. That search brought me to Dr. Wolf and this excellent Facebook forum where all questions can be answered if you will only ask.

I followed the recovery protocols and never had any trouble with amiodarone. Actually, the amiodarone helped me significantly prior to surgery. I thought I was too old to receive help for a condition I attributed to the aging process. I could not have been more wrong!

Dear reader, if you are suffering from AFib, please give yourself a chance and pursue all of the information you can find on the Wolf Procedure. Watch the videos, read all of the comments, get hope and persevere because you can have the life that we on this side of the experience are enjoying. You deserve to be here with us.

Its been 4 years since this day in 2021, no recurrences and no meds. I am so very grateful for Dr. Wolf and his staff and that he perfected this procedure.
I still tell people all the time, in as much detail as they want to hear, about this amazing procedure. It is amazing to me how few people, even those in the cardiology field, know about this specific type of surgery that Dr. Wolf and his staff do. If you know anyone who has AFib, do them a favor and let them know about "The Wolf Procedure - Live AFib free" page here on Facebook. I still follow the page and see people posting every week about getting their life back. Thank you Dr. Randall K. Wolf!!

Meeting with Dr. Wolf - July 21, 2021
Got the clear bill of health today. I can't even put in to words how grateful I am that Dr. Randall Wolf found this calling. 16 days in Texas... time to go see if the kids left the house still standing.

Note: This picture was taken when I left Texas without AFib one week after my WP.

Last week I had a 4 month post WP check in with Dr Wolf. I was telling him I have my life back, I am 100% back to normal, pre-AFib, the only thing I haven't done yet is water skied. He said "do it". So I did yesterday. (I was up to it at least 30 days ago, was just taking it easy). Last summer, I was always hesitant as any activity that seemed to trigger a sympathetic nervous system response, put me in AFib. So grateful to have a normal life back.

Personal message to Dr. Wolf - June 29, 2025

Hi Dr Wolf,

Last week in our follow up I said the only thing I haven’t done since the procedure is get back to skiing. You said “do it”.  I probably was ready a month ago. Thank you so much for giving me my life back. Last summer, I was always hesitant to go because it would shift me to a more sympathetic response, which triggered my AFib.  (This is why your procedure made sense to me). I am happy to do any testimonial as the entire experience changed my life.

Personal message to Dr. Wolf - April 11, 2025

Dr. Wolf, you performed the Mini Maze for me on 2/2/2022 and Dr. Fahed followed up with an ablation on 9/12/2022. I have been in continuously normal sinus rhythm since the ablation, which is approximately 30 months!

I am living a wonderful life since then, I feel great, can easily ascend stairs, exercise as I please, travel the world, all with no need to hold back on anything I love to do. I will never forget or fail to be thankful to you and Dr. Fahed for truly giving me back my life.

I am so fortunate our paths crossed. I hope you and your family are happy and well. I'm about to be a grandfather for the first time (literally at any minute, to tell the truth) and am so thankful that I can enjoy that wonderful experience in good health, thanks to you both!

"He enthusiastically authorizes Dr. Wolf to use his letter on his website and he’s happy to do so. On my own personal note, I can not thank Dr. Wolf and Dr. Fahed enough for the excellent care they gave him and for the wonderful result of their amazing skill and treatments. What a blessing to have found them, which by the way was from watching the "Get in Rhythm, Stay in Rhythm" webinar. D. Prigatano

Today is my 2 year anniversary! My Wolf Procedure (WMM back then) was 3-13-2023. I have been AFIB free since then. No meds (nothing for AFIB, no blood thinners and no blood pressure meds). I was one of those whose blood pressure returned to normal after my LAA was clipped. So amazing!

My only regret is that I didn’t have it sooner but it was the best decision I ever made for my health!

A big thank you to Dr. Wolf for giving me back my life! You truly are a magician! And thank you Sandi for your support, calming my nerves, and your friendship! Also, thank you to all on this page who were so supportive before, during, and after my procedure.

On July 31, 2019 I received the Wolf Procedure. I could barely walk a flight of stairs and five years since that great decision I made I am doing 5ks and 15 rounds of boxing at the young ripe age of 54!

Let me tell you I haven’t been in this good of shape since I was in high school. Boxing is the ultimate cardio exercise. I got my life back! If you’re thinking about getting the Wolf Procedure, please contact me and I’ll tell you 5,000 reasons why you should get it!

The author of this post wrote to us:

I live in Maine and am a hiker, mainly in Maine and New Hampshire. When I was diagnosed with Afib in the spring of 2021 it really interfered with my active lifestyle. After being told by a local cardiologist that I had AFib, had to take anticoagulants for life and just had to deal with it, I began my research. This led me to the amazing Dr Wolf and so began my Wolf Mini Maze journey. I had my Wolf Procedure on 3/1/23 and vowed to return to hiking full in time for my one year anniversary. My daughter designed my tattoo in preparation for this milestone. I reached my goal and on 3/1/24 my daugter , son and best friend hiked Mount Willard (2800’) in Crawford Noth, NH. Heart rate was 139 at max exertion and recovered immediately when we got the summit. I am 65 years old and I am forever grateful to Dr Wolf for giving me my life back!

Hi guys I’m 12 months post Wolf Procedure. No AFib episodes since operation .. My resting heart rate is a bit high for my liking I still feel sore around the heart region where they entered during procedure and getting my fitness back is still a challenge. BUT it is nice to sip a beer or glass of wine on a weekend and not have to worry about flip flopping in and out of AFib.. Hope everyone is doing well .. greetings from Barbados.
